10/06 - Finicky Friday!

Ok, trying to do a SNIPS but can't seem to get the recording down from my headset I have used a hundred times. The instructions say make sure to allow sound recording in this browser.. any tips?

 

is it recording but when you hit play not playing it back to you at all?

 

Both my degrees are framed in a closet somewhere.

 

It says restart entire task that they can't hear me at all, unplugged headphones, and tried both Chrome and Fox and same result. Using a different computer but if Eriks come back I got to get this fixed LOL

It might be reading the wrong mic.

 

so click "restart" and make sure it's super silent during the 5 second recording. I found that if there was too many spikes during the 5 second calibration it wouldn't hear me properly (and seriously, my cat walking and making the floorboards creaked did it)

 

I checked that in firefox.. but that is a good point, LOL. Snips will be long gone by the time I figure it out!

 

I was just looking at April fools pranks but nothing can beat what we did. This was in like 2000. I was the 3rd shift 12am-10am manager for Verizon DSL Tech Support. We took all the balls out of the mouses for the 1st shift. It was epic

I mean, I'm all for people framing them if that's what they want! I just have never wanted to and it is a sore point with Matt's mom, who probably thinks people will find me less unimpressive if I have a shiny framed degree on the wall. Meh. I didn't even go to my graduation tbh. I kept getting hospitalized and had to re-do quite a few semesters that I was 2/3 of the way through. By the time I finished, I was just tired lol.

I got some AMAZING feedback from everyone, thank you so much. I've already made some changes due to it, and I'm hoping to further refine with feedback I get throughout the month.

Eligibility

I decided to go with the same eligibility scheme. You can only win every other hit. Meaning that if you win, you will be ineligible to accept the next hit, but you will be able to accept the one after that. That's the best way to balance fairness with availability and number of hits.

Structure

I took some people's (unexpected) advice and dropped the pay in favor of having more hits available. There will be 150 hits at $0.05 each, for a total of $10.50 per hit, and $94.50 for the month excluding halloween. Halloween will be its own hit. I'd like to release 150 of those as well, with pay determined by how much I have left over and in the donation pot. Right now it's looking like it'll be around $0.17 each, though that may go up if additional people donate and/or if I get any more money to throw into it. For reference, $0.10/hit is $21, $0.25/hit is $52.50, and $0.50/hit is $105. Right now I have around $40, so if you want to increase the pot for everyone, look below for the URL.

Frequency

I'm going to be posting on Monday and Thursday, within the 12:00PM EST hour. People seemed to be the most active this time, and that was the two times I got most reported as "available" without complaints on my survey. This was the only "surprise" hit, hopefully it was still fun!
