The last thing thing i remember about it was asking for an access code to get on their computers. There were personnel for that.

I was in my library club in elementary school. We nerds taught normal kids how to use the card catalog, use encyclopedias, navigate scholastic book sales, hand out information and stickers and stuff for the pizza hut reading thing, among other basic library tasks like organizing, flagging damaged books and whatnot. I realize now they were just delegating actual jobs to kids, but damn I was so proud of myself. I bragged about it to everyone.

 

Arthur is the shit. I watched that show for waaay longer than is probably socially acceptable lol

I was a true library nerd growing up. I was that kid who ate lunch in the library and went to the library after school. It was better than being home alone all the time growing up. I also had to learn how to use the card catalogue for class in elementary school. Even in college,I was perpetually in the library (when I wanted to avoid my residents lol.)

 

Damn that brings back some memories

Scholastic book sale was all about the new goosebumps book for me

I had like EVERY goosebumps book back in the day. My collection was massive. I hit junior high and decided I was too cool for it and donated them to the library.

I had most of them too! Not sure what happened to them though

 

All the base libraries I visited knew me by name and would hold books for me

It was very nice, I have a lot of great memories at all the different libraries. Even in my last one in my senior year of high school, running there when the new Dragonlance book was out that they specially ordered for me.

Special shout out to all the nice librarians out there for the kid with a reading problem

Holy shit, scholastic book day was life. Pretty sure the sheer joy of picking out and later recieving books from that catalogue predisposed me to a lifetime of internet shopping.
