i had an 08 or 09 before this one too and it straight up drank a glass of milk and didn't bat an eye. the trackpad ended up dying (way after the milk incident, but it could obviously be related) and i had the opportunity for this one so i got it instead of fixing that trackpad. i still have that kicking around the house and sometimes consider firing it back up to see how it is.

oh my god, dude, yes. i feel like a caveman trying to operate a laptop with no trackpad gestures. i can't live without them now.
