10/11 - Wicked Wednesday!

I'll probably have to keep doing that, they both get 10x more interested in me when my computer is out. Same with when I am using my wii u/switch

Because it's taking so long to get these done, I'm going to drop the number of hits I'm putting out. Starting Thursday, I'll be doing 125 hits at $0.06 each. It'll be the same final cost, but hopefully it won't cause massive confusion because the hits keep getting reposted on each forum forever.

I got some AMAZING feedback from everyone, thank you so much. I've already made some changes due to it, and I'm hoping to further refine with feedback I get throughout the month.

Eligibility

I decided to go with the same eligibility scheme. You can only win every other hit. Meaning that if you win, you will be ineligible to accept the next hit, but you will be able to accept the one after that. That's the best way to balance fairness with availability and number of hits.

Structure

I took some people's (unexpected) advice and dropped the pay in favor of having more hits available. There will be 150 hits at $0.05 each, for a total of $10.50 per hit, and $94.50 for the month excluding halloween. Halloween will be its own hit. I'd like to release 150 of those as well, with pay determined by how much I have left over and in the donation pot. Right now it's looking like it'll be around $0.17 each, though that may go up if additional people donate and/or if I get any more money to throw into it. For reference, $0.10/hit is $21, $0.25/hit is $52.50, and $0.50/hit is $105. Right now I have around $40, so if you want to increase the pot for everyone, look below for the URL.

Frequency

I'm going to be posting on Monday and Thursday, within the 12:00PM EST hour. People seemed to be the most active this time, and that was the two times I got most reported as "available" without complaints on my survey. This was the only "surprise" hit, hopefully it was still fun!

Training. Which takes time.

Teach a command, such as "off" (by saying it, showing what it means, and rewarding whenever they do it), then use the command when they try to jump up on something they shouldn't. Eventually they learn not to jump on that thing.

Other than that, you might just need barriers.

 

I think the main issue is that tuition is retarded these days. Back when @Rocknrolla went to college and it was 'only' $20k it would have been possible to pay most or all of it off while you went to classes. You can expect to pay twice that at some places these days lol

I use a squirt bottle to threaten them. Water spraying is apparently scary for animals, so they move if I pick it up.

On a good note, one of the six rejections have been overturned! It looks like the rest will too.

 

It depends on if you can get a good job without it. Simple as that. If you can't, and I believe it is harder for women to make a decent wage without an education. Rather owe for school and earn 3 to 4 times what you would if you did not have an education. Once it is paid off, your rate of return is better. On the other hand, you owe, slowing down your progress at first at other things. If you can find a trade school, that can be a decent option, if you like that sort of thing.

@DikDik Also, this. But only spray them when they actually do the bad thing. Otherwise, you'll end up with a fearful, neurotic animal because it gets punished at random and it can't figure out why. I've taught my dog the same reaction with a finger snap, as well. Something that distracts their attention and corrects is all you need for "punishment".

 

I went to a university that cost 35K a year with the intention of becoming a high school teacher. Starting salary probably would've been around that or lower. Talk about bad decisions. Even with a good scholarship I still paid 15K a year. I left after two years to go to a state school where tuition was like 8K. I had zero idea what I was doing when I took out loans.

I have a jar with change in it and I shake it every time the cats come on my desk or near my computer. They do not enjoy coming near my laptop much! Bearnie will sometimes sleep behind my laptop but only if I’m actually there and he never touches it anymore. The dogs are 55 pounds and 90 pounds respectively so I don’t really need to worry about them in my lap so much as hitting the screen with wagging tails or accidentally pulling the charger out. I just tell them to back off if they are in the danger zone and they’ve gotten the point.

Spray bottles did diddly squat for my cats personally, Bearnie is defiant AF but he hates the sound of change hitting the glass jar and bolts. It’s pretty good for getting him off counters too.
