    It blows my mind how much people pay to become a teacher. The main reason I chose the university I went to was because almost all my high school teachers had received their bachelor's and/or masters there. It's crazy to think most of them probably paid (excluding scholarships and grants) close to 140k for a Bachelors and another 30k for a Masters. I went to a Catholic high school so they were paid very little and probably weren't eligible for any loan forgiveness programs. I know at least my English teacher, who had high school aged children of her own at the time, was still paying loans. Fucking nuts.

    Eh. I don't wish to butt heads or anything, but I would like to also mention you can work your way up from the bottom. I started attending college, got pregnant and dropped out. I have 0 credits.

    I started at my current company 9 years ago, in the lowest entry level position you could possible get. I worked up to supervisor of the call center and my current boss recruited me for her department.

    My job title says I'm a programmer/developer with a big fancy corporation in the information industry.

    I paid $0 for college and have $0 student loan debt and make more than some of the dudes on my team because I learn quick and adapt to new stuff quickly. Willpower, perseverance, integrity, accountability. That's what I had and what I used. Do I regret dropping out now? Not a bit.

    Just my 2 cents though.
