Legally? $20,000 and 200 transactions completed triggers a requirement for the payment processor to file a 1099K for an individual.

No one knows/understands what Amazon considers a "transaction" and it seems like as long as you hit $20,000 you get one.

My main reason behind saying that is because the db can be easily altered and falsified. But you're probably right in that everything can be forged. I wouldn't think emails and bank statements/amazon history would be able to be, but I'm likely just ignorant.

You get a very nice letter from the IRS telling you to pay up or they'll take what they want in organs.

Is it "good / bad / it doesn't matter" to get a 1099?

I believe that it is marginally easier to file with a 1099 but it honestly isn't that big of a deal.

So can a business' sales record is my point. Functionally that's all that a HITDB export is, a record of your business transactions.

I'm not disagreeing that it can be forged, of course it can be. I'm saying the IRS wouldn't turn it away just because someone could be stupid enough to try to do that any more than they would turn away paperwork from a business lying about their income/expense reports. The whole point of an audit is to look at data and make sure it matches what happened in the real world. If you can't turn over that data you've already tied the collar around your ballsack and gave them the leash because now you're relying on Amazon of all places to help you prove what you made. :emoji_laughing:

I'd lean towards good since you at least made a decent chunk of change + some of the calculations have already been done for you.

I don't own a PILLOW TALK. Mostly because for a 'shits and giggles' purchase it is an expensive one. (Good ones are often north of $100)
