You can have your extensions run in Incognito if you want.

They just aren't allowed to run there by default.

You have to visit chrome://extensions and check this box.

Allow access to file URLs under chrome://extensions is a cool setting for Tampermonkey too, since it means a script writer can @require a local file, leave it blank in Tampermonkey, and work on it locally in an external editor like VS Code (with Intellisense/etc.), Atom, Sublime Text, Notepad++, etc.

I can relate.

I have 2 different desktops and a laptop, and when I write/update scripts, I have to keep track of which Chrome profile on which computer has the latest version of a script I'm working on.
