If you haven't already, email the requester of the one you submitted with wrong code. Explain what happened, and more often than not, you'll avoid a rejection.

Let em get mad. Nobody ever got excellent at something by being told they were doing well.

You start a firework by lighting it with fire. You don't ask it politely to "please blow up and do something amazing". Let someone see the cool things that are possible when you really pour all of your effort into it. Anyone not inspired by that isn't worth trying to motivate. They don't want it enough. Their situation isn't bad enough to get out of their own heads and stop wallowing in self-pity. Pray it gets worse for them, so they eventually hit rock bottom and have nowhere to go but up. "Not happy with where I'm at but not unhappy enough about it to actually do anything about it" is one of the worst places to be.

Convince people that there's a light at the end of the dreary tunnel they're in.
Don't try to delude them into thinking it's not dark where they're at, when it clearly is.

Don't tell people that things are OK when they're not OK.
Just let them know that it gets better.
