I have thrift store skates now, but I repeatedly keep fucking them up (the plastic is chipping off, I would have to buy new wheels soon cause these are super worn down). I think I'm approaching the limit of what I can do with these without constant repairs and they kinda hurt my feet. I looked at a bunch and wanted cheaper ones than I bought, but my damn tiny feet don't fit into a lot of skates.I'm still paranoid these ones will be too big or small when I get them despite measuring my feet exactly lol. Plus, free overnight shipping for Californians so that was pretty cool.

I never buy anything for myself, so it's my gift to myself. I decided fuck it.

Hockey skates tend to be a little heavier, but have the best ankle support. If you are injury prone, that is a big plus.

Just make sure you get some decent bearings. ABEC 5 or above.

I have no idea what these words mean, but Matt nodded in approval when he looked at the specs so I assumed it was a-ok.

 

It's a tolerance rating on bearings and ABEC 7 is very good. You just gotta keep em clean. Probably once or twice a month clean em with a Q-tip. Depends how much skating you do and if you skate in the street.

 

I generally clean my skates and rotate the wheels every sunday. Between the road skating gunk and the fact my house is a nightmare of dog/cat hair, I like to err on the side of caution. It's oddly calming too.

I mostly skate in the street, I just roll out of my house (ok, I put my skates on sitting on the curb because I keep wiping out if I try to roll off my sidewalk from the house) and then skate like 2+ miles at a time. I got skates meant for street skating that shouldn't wear as bad as the ones I'm using now.



It's really about the most fun I've had doing something physical as an adult. I've taken dance for 20+ years at this point, and this is kinda like dancing...but on wheels!

Heads up on those I tried to do some just now and over half didn't submit properly.

 

I tried one and it submitted but I am running out of steam and want to get to at least 20 today (sad but I could never find anything and I oops out of the pins) I am doing audiokites now..hoping that will get me over the hump..

 

I guess someone liked these and did them all. They went from 361 to 0 in 2 minutes..

 

You know a batch is good when it's being done at like 200 hits a minutes and their TO has 1 review at all 1s. I'm sensing a trend here.

It could be that he pulled them or someone panda'd them for some reason. I have no idea why..I found it took a little long to find the exact features in the object.

 

He may have been masters or got that pins and c-sats batch. I have not been that lucky but I am almost to 20! I may give up though because doing this way means my avg is only like 4 a hour..
