    Not looking for a gaming computer but wouldn't mind a recommendation for a really cheap decent laptop for my dad. He bought an HP a couple years ago and the hinge broke. He has been holding the screen together with a c-clamp for the last year and now there's an issue with the power cord. every time he moves it the power shuts off because the battery won't charge any more. Not to mention I've had to listen to him complain about how slow it was for 2 years. Which is at least partly due to crappy country internet speeds. Anyway he is looking for something cheap, like under $300, which isn't going to get him much, I know.

    What does he need in a laptop? I hear chromebooks are good for the cheap stuff but somebody will have to give you more help with that as I don't know much about the laptop market, let alone the low end laptop market. (The only laptop I have is a thinkpad x240)

    Yeah but the shit thing is we won't be out of the drought. The reservoirs are filled or filling but the rain has come all at once so the ground can't absorb it :(

    @laby as long as he doesn't need to run windows or download software Chromebooks are good and usually cheap. A bonus if he's not really computer savvy is they update on their own and don't need spyware or antivirus programs, clearing the history/cookies from time to time is all the maintenance you need to do.
