Idk if anyone else is as insane as me, but one thing I've done for the past 2 years around this time of year is calculate up what I've spent at certain retailers (mostly Walmart) & I'll purchase gift cards day after x-mas on GC sites (they tend to be HEAVILY discounted, even the major retailers b/c the market is flooded, except for Amazon b/c Amazon ofc) for what I expect to spend on the year. I usually aim for 85% of what I spent year prior.

It takes a lot of budgeting, don't do it if you're bad at impulse control because you WILL overspend when you have GCs worth a large sum of money (they don't "feel" like real money, to me at least, took a lot of brain training to "fix" lol). But if you can budget (excel, excel, excel) & keep your stuff together its a solid way to get 5-20% off for your yearly expenses for very, very little effort (most CC companies will do the breakdowns for you).

YMMV please don't share this blatantly obvious and not unique whatsoever idea b/c I'm sure as folks catch on it'll stop working but
