That's a great idea.

Lighting during the day makes a difference as well, though a machine like that still doesn't address the very, very common Vitamin D deficiency.

Iodine, Zinc, Vitamin D, Potassium, and Magnesium are the most significant vitamins/minerals/hormones/etc. (yep, Vitamin D is actually not a vitamin, it's a hormone) that are common deficiencies and have a proven link to mood.

What's worth noting as well is that RDA values are recommended minimums for avoiding disease (i.e., rickets), and although overdosing can make you sick, it usually helps to get at least a bit more than the minimum. Minimum != optimum. 5000 IU of Vitamin D per day does wonders for my mood.

What's nice for me as a daysleeper is I also sleep with a CPAP breathing mask. I can bury my head under my sheets to block out the light and still breathe well.

 

My dad has one of those.

 

I plan to eventually get one of those. Besides that I try to take my puppy out as much as I can and I take a multivitamin that includes some of those
