I'm not sure why you would do that but it would work most likely. Just feels like a waste of money to order the same model when you could do basically the same thing for a new model.

Windows will likely yell at you though about your licence because your motherboard will have changed but you should be fine.

Big maybe, mostly because Windows hardware ID's are unique, even across the same models, so you MIGHT run into issues with Windows loading.

That is a licence issue and not a boot issue though. Also on windows 10 your key is tied to your Microsoft account and you can move it around without too much issue these days from what I gather.

I saw a Joe concert with Eric Johnson opening at UB several years ago. They could not be more different on stage; Johnson just stood there and played (very well, mind you), but Joe's energy and music made it feel more like a concert than a show, if that makes any sense.

So they yell at you for replacing a broken motherboard??? That seems a LOT harsh. AND the reason it would be done is about 100 hours worth of customization and specialized software on the harddrive that can be "reinstalled" but never "tweaked" quite the same without a HUGE time/energy investment. That said spending $150 on a second identical piece of hardware seems a whole lot more efficient use of time/resources ...

 

Holy crap I didn't know this.. THANK GOD. Having it tied to the mobo was stupid since they'd let you change it if you called anyway.. What a good change

 

If you do a quick call gets it resolved. I used to swap hardware all the time and it would require me to reactivate and they never fought me on it.
