Strictly just my personal opinion/personality/philosophy. I agree with the base sentiment it'd be cool if every human was awesome and didn't get frustrated/angry/sad/nervous but that's... not possible. Minimize? Sure OK lets aim for that.

But anyway, far as my view, If you release something for free, you're doing it for a reason. Whatever that reason is, you essentially know what you're getting in to and if you can't handle the negative consequences (people Grinching, asking for more more more, etc) then don't release it because those are pretty bland/mild given the circumstance:

The power dynamic is forking broken between scripters & their users. Users have zero power, there's really nothing they can do other than complain. Scripters get the knowledge, the social recognition, the experience, the super OP scripts, etc etc. End users get a script (presumably for free, since that's usually the argument attached to "don't complain!" - though gurl's post was way better and more nuanced than that). Cool, good for them, but the scripter is entirely in control of the agreement/arrangement. They opted in to it and provided something of value in an arrangement they asked for nothing in return for. They made that choice, not the end user. And they can opt out of it too whenever they want and there's nothing the end user can do. That creates a dynamic similar to the one with mTurk where you're left with something really really valuable / necessary for the end-user to survive but something in which s/he has zero control/impact on. That's a frustrating way to live life (or an existence on mTurk, anyway), and its why anyone who can opt for self-written does so, even when their self-written tools are probably worse than public stuff at the start (when they're just learning, etc).

Anyway, as far as it impacts me, I don't give a hoot when people whine/complain/report 800 bugs that aren't really bugs with TH/TV/etc. I'd rather have bad data than no data, and a lot of people feel put off reporting bugs & such when the sentiment is "its free, don't complain!" so I generally don't support it. If you don't want to be complained to/at, don't put your name on something that has value and give it to people

I want to get things done and the way/manner in which it gets done doesn't matter as much as it being done. Which is why I'm going to have to go back through this post that I just blazed out as fast as I could and soften the wording LOL. So yeah, I think the social stuff is nice & all, but, realistically its impractical (IMO) and pretty much removes the one and only avenue of "power" in the relationship the end user has as far as mturk script author/user dynamics go around here. Don't get me wrong I have emotions/feelings and there are no doubt times I get annoyed if someone tags me for something stupid while I'm working on real work but, at a base level, I'd say this is my general philosophy on doing crap for the mTurk community. You'll catch me slipping from time to time, but I try to have thick skin because its better for me to have users Grinching than no users at all
