Just joined the ranks of the Mturkers two days ago, and to be honest, it's all a little bit overwhelming. I was just randomly surfing online, and somewhere in one of the interwebz rabbit holes I ventured down, someone mentioned this Mturk thing, and that you could make some cash at it. Intrigued, I fired my Googler up, and started reading, liked what I was reading, read some more, sent some info to Amazon, (I've been an Amazon member since '98 incidentally, and yes, I'm old), and for good or for ill, here I am!!

I'm in the process of getting things set up the way I like, what with the scripts and all that, and doing the grind thru the HITS so I can get the probationary period done and over with and hopefully be on my way. I will say there is a little bit of a learning curve, but overall, not too bad.

Stumbled across this forum last nite, and spent a bit of time reading the posts, and decided that I'd come out of *lurk mode* and join and say hello. I really have no set plan to my 'turking', just gonna see what happens and enjoy the ride. :)

If you have already made your way here to the forums I would say that you are on the right track to doing well on mturk.

Everyone learns at different paces (we had one insane guy recently that was getting >$60 days during his probationary period) but for the most part it is just going to take a bit of time to get used to it and learn ect.

This process should be a lot faster if you hang out here and ask for help whenever you need it though :)

    Oh and welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've done megatons of data entry before, and I'm fairly comfortable around computers, so for right now, I think I'm good. Just been reading everything I can find, in between slogging thru the HITs I'm eligible for. I just have TO and the Dark Theme from this site installed. I'm running FF, have for pretty much forever, as for some reason, I just don't like Chrome.

Anyhow, as you can see, I tend to keyboard ramble, so I'll just end now, and if I have any questions, I will be sure to ask. :)

ETA: I kept reading about 'batch HITS', and not sure what they were exactly. Are they when you just keep 'accepting' hits from the same requester?

ETAA: I now have a grasp of bathch HITS. Think I'm good for the moment. ;)

    Welcome to the Hub :)
My guess is that you'll do great here and at mturk as you seem to be quite self sufficient in looking for and absorbing information. Let us know if we can help along the way.
