I was a serious musician for many years, including violin (might be what you're learning given the reference to squeaking?). Learning enough to get from "what end is up" to a recognizable tune is a big deal. Congrats.

I picked the tin whistle because it's both easy to learn and not very expensive. I wouldn't want to drop hundreds of dollars on an instrument if I'm not sure if playing music is a thing for me when it's been nearly 20 years since I last played one.
