I am beginning to like the Vivaldi browser. I am a bit bored so I am playing around with the colors. It supports all of the scripts -- and I guess I like the fact that it's not one of big name browsers. It allows for various tiling options. I really like the "web panel" feature which you see in the left smaller windows. You can make any page into a panel and it becomes a mobile version of the page. Now I can click on an icon -- such as Gmail -- and open my email without needing to open up a new tab. And I am surprised by how fast the panel loads.

I had one of those weeks where everything went wrong, and I didn't help myself by grinding more. It's just a reminder to stay on top of things because just when you think you have mturk figured out, it gives you a nice kick in the balls.

I've tested it when PFAs are laggy and when scaping for stuff and it's faster than other browsers which is the main reason I switched to using it all the time. Glad you're having fun playing around with it! Welcome to the super small Vivaldi VIP group!

It is. It's basically just Chrome with some built-in extensions.

It's made by some of the people who left Opera when it became a Chrome clone to make something more like the older Opera (v12 and earlier). A browser that FF and Chrome had been ripping off for a decade.

I understand the history, but it doesn't really make a difference.

The fact of the matter is that performance, bugs, etc. will be nearly identical to Chrome, because it's essentially Chrome. The parsing / precompiler / JIT / interpreter is all V8, the renderer is all Chrome code, etc.

I still have a data stick with the old Opera on it just for nostalgia. I think it was the first portable browser too. If Vivaldi ever gets the Presto engine back, I'd be really happy.
