In art-nerd circles, usually the point at which actual effort and/or intent is put in. (edit because @NBadger: Yep. It's "just a pile of candy" but holy SHIT it's so much more. intent makes all the difference there. And some high-technique photorealistic painting/sculpture just... i can't even think of anything which would still have close to the same effect.)

"ugh modern art is just paint flung around" is usually vastly oversimplified. i've never seen anything which reached million-dollar levels which didn't include clear understanding of composition and color and usually a heavy dose of social/historical context.

I mean, if that's not your thing, whatever. Art is pretty subjective. But technique ain't the only thing everyone cares about.

I keep getting an "Error occured during submission. Try again." message with these, and a window pops up that says "an embedded page at central-mturk... says..." followed by stuff I don't understand. Just me, I take it?
