Doesn't Java require a type for each class? You have public static void (String[]... You need public static void main (String[]....

 

Unless Java has changed something since the last time I've written in it, it doesn't have anonymous functions like what you wrote there.

You can run any Java file that has a valid main() method in the class.

So instead of

You need:

I've got the code right(typed out the same as in the book), I'm just having an issue with the eclipse program itself. Basically I can't seem to figure out how run a different code in it without restarting the program. The play button doesn't show the option for the one I just typed, only for the last one I ran.

 

Ohhhhh, that's right! People keep thinking I'm demonstrating that to them. Thanks for the reminder. Yeah... no.

I'm surprised that they have you using Eclipse. I used it way back in 2006, and to my understanding, it has fallen out of favor as one of the de-facto Java IDEs in favor of IntelliJ (especially since Google's official Android Studio is based on IntelliJ).

 

I think it's because my professor is just used to it. I know in my machine learning class(same professor and much higher level) we are using his own software to create an Artificial Neural Network
