It affects more than RAM usage though. That's the problem. It can affect CPU and memory as well. It's also a redundant process if you have an SSD.

 

Yeah, I assumed so. I've been running for 15 minutes with popcorn, watching the memory management tab like it's a TV show and waiting for it to get good.

Most definitely not. RAM access is several degrees of speed faster than even SSD access.
