    Looking tough an edgy though isn't the only alternative style. My SO wears vintage dresses and stuff and I would consider her alternative but if you want to look goth just put on all your black stuff and some heavy black makeup. You can pick up some of those fake tattoo arm sleeve things and listen to Norwegian black metal.
