Matt at dinner: Why aren’t the Browns in the super bowl?

Me: DUDE. REALLY? They were 0-16

Matt: I just know the phrase, “ take the browns to the super bowl.” Do you get it?!

Me: Yes Matt, I get it.

Matt: IT’S POOPING! Get it? BROWN TURDS TO THE TOILET BOWL!

    I don’t. I don’t even some days. His mind is a bizarre place :emoji_sweat_smile:

Bonus Mattisms: “ The Seattle eagles, right?” “ How can Boston have a football team if it’s so close to the water? Aren’t they the Red Sox anyway?” “ Seahawks and Eagles are the same thing Bird!”

Either of the TDs could have been overturned (neither should have been by the spirit of football, but given the retarded rules I could have seen it happening). Half the country would have burned if the refs did it, though. Those were 100% NSA phoned in "don't you forking dare overturn that" calls LOL.

Yeah the step out of endzone should have been called back....the other no he became a runner and broke the plane. Either way you look at it though it was game over for Philly if the Pats could have made a damn tackle.

Still a work in progress to remap words in my brain. Ash is the least intuitive & slips the most. Shirt is 50/50. I'm pretty good w/ "fork" though. Mostly its because...

May I suggest the term "jackanapes." I hate that thing in FFV and recently found out apparently it's a real word.

That's true. Someday I hope to get back into sports because I remember watching the Browns and Indians and Cavs (pre-Lebron) -- it brings back fond memories. I kinda like watching the World Cup when it's on, though. Sort of a less "commercial", more laid back sport.

It’s not at all weird to root for your home town team even after you move either I’d say. I mean, I left NY after high school but I’m still gonna root for the shitty Jets until I die because that was my home and my home team for 18 years.

I still wish I could go back in time and tell myself that’s an awful team and to be a Giants fan like my dad or something. I just can’t do it. My uncle gave me a puffy giants jacket to mess with me when I was 5 and I REFUSED to wear it, and was willing to freeze. They ended up finally getting me a puffy Jets jacket instead because I was so stubborn. I was a member of the Junior Jets Club and I would go to Jets Fest every summer. I have unfortunate taste. but I’m loyal for life!

I was shocked, SHOCKED! that neither one of those calls were overturned.

    Somewhere, Roger Goodell was all...

The team that finally decided to play defense won, so I guess that's a good thing.

Does anyone have experience with independent contracting work (outside of Mturk)? I have no experience with it but I sort of stumbled upon an opportunity (possibly). He says that I would need to log my own hours, and there is no cap on hours -- "within reason". I already let him know I work 12-15 hours on Mturk, and he seemed fine with it. Something just seems odd that he trusts me to track my own hours. Is this common, though?

Generally, people go into independent contracting / freelancing / consulting to be their own boss or work on their own terms. If it's skilled work (audio production, marketing, graphic design, analytics, etc etc etc), tracking one's own hours is not out of the norm at all. But if it's unskilled (or low-skilled) stuff like data entry, it's a little less common.

Either way, cover your own ass and make sure you're getting paid for what you're doing.

    Thanks.

No, it's definitely not highly-skilled work. He described it as "data entry" -- the sort of work which requesters post on Mturk. Plus, he needs to pay me via direct deposit. However, I checked him out on LinkedIn and he works for a legit company.

I was too good at my contract work this week. Only billed the client for 6 hours. I was cleared for 10-15. Self fail!
