WTF I am not okay with this

 

Doesn't mTurk itself already have a similar feature? I don't see the big deal

 

just because most surveys ask the same questions doesn't make answering them lying really does it, its just repetitive I think.

 

For those freaking out, it should be noted that that is for TurkPrime itself (mostly surveys and research studies, not batches), not all of MTurk.

Easy way to tell what HITs are TurkPrime are generally the ones where there are "Optional" questions to answer within the HIT window.

 

But it's only excluding people by hits approved, not surveys taken. I have over 100k approved, but a small percentage of that is surveys. So while it's excluding the professionals, it's excluding the rest of us as well. The same as a hits approved exclusion qual. Unless I'm missing some key factor here. Which is totally possible.

 

It's okay, don't worry.

 

I'm sure most of us here are in the top 25% at least. Even the people who hate surveys and say they don't do many - they still are probably more surveyish than the average turker.

 

Haha I've done more surveys this week than in the past year, because I've become addicted to leaving TV reviews. I blame CT for all my woes. As per usual.

No, actually nothing even remotely comparable or as well done as TPs version of it. Though they could improve it w/ categorization of the survey type its still pretty good.

Its not that answering the same questions == lying, its that in order to make it into that top 1% you'd have to be doing a ludicrous amount of surveys. I mean truly, truly ludicrous amount. Amounts that make no sense because you'd surely not even qualify for many of them. Given the corollary research on mTurk that suggests a boat load of people flat out lie about demographics/etc to qualify, its pretty likely you can infer anyone in the top 1% is either lying in order to be there in the first place or is sitting on the platform for hours that make no actual sense.

Even if that isn't the case (I haven't tracked TP in 3months, so I can't throw # examples out, so lets assume I'm wrong) the overall idea is that researchers don't want professional survey takers who can fly through the 48 lillypads and a duck questions, have scripts running AC checks for them, etc etc. Which is beyond reasonable & fair. At no point in history has "survey taker" been a profession and IMO people are really over estimating the likelihood they're in the top 1-5%, maybe in the top 10% but I still doubt it for most folks here. You wouldn't have time to type on the forum. Its really targeting those folks who somehow manage to have $100 days M-F every single week on nothing but page long survey exports.

No, its only excluding people by the # of HITs accepted that are on the TurkPrime platform. Which is 99% surveys. So its legit screening out professional survey takers only. See @Trickydude24's comment.

 

Oh, lol. I thought there was a "HITS completed not greater than X" option.
