I worked at a Pennies and then at Justice for Girls. I routinely came home covered in glitter, like a stripper.

This one day, there was a tiny terror knocking down displays and shit. I'm basically following them around, picking up shirts and things she's slapping off the table, politely asking her parents to please chill her out because you can't throw things in the store please...and I suddenly turn around and see a giant fucking sign off the ceiling come crashing to the ground. One of the super heavy ones suspended by wire. We have to put it up on a ladder with a hook. The toddler just laughs and runs off knocking more shit down. It caused a horrid chain reaction of knocking things over.

I'm standing there , slack jawed, and this toddler's parents just take her and leave...no apology. We never figured out WTF she even did exactly that caused it, but we all knew it was her and my boss had to look at the store footage later to figure out what the kid did (I think she was hurling objects at the sign and hit it just right. I never asked full deets cause I was so upset) The destruction was bonkers, and I had just set the entire area with new manqeuins and shit. I literally got sent on a break by my boss, cause I started crying reflexively. I didn't even know I was crying. I was just flapping my arms helplessly, staring at the hours of work I did, blubbering. To top it off, toddler mc crappy parent face had a giant cup of chick-fil-e lemonade on a table display and it was all over clothes that we had to damage out.

I literally want to cry even thinking of this. It was horrifying. I came back like 30 minutes later and just started cleaning silently.

I do not miss retail.

Well.. sure.. but the fact she's starting w/ tiling w/o knowing what goes behind it is where my advice is coming from not just from my personal experience Ditto could be said about your anecdote, just because it worked doesn't mean it always will, blah blah.

But I'll put dollars to donuts that your DIY project is, pound for pound, worse off/less polished when put up next to someone who had been doing the same thing for 15yrs. I'm not saying its bad, its just impossible to be as skilled in something someone else has done for 10,000hrs+. Which is what I said about my own projects, all of which I'm super proud of and I think compared to the average DIY'er are way better finished products.

You can take that however you want, but its not a knock. If your stuff is better than the pros then time to get a TV show haha. I think you're selling short how much an architecture program will make you familiar with a lot of building aspects too though.

Anyway, no one is doing their first bathroom rebuild without a fork up (or 20) lol. Bathroom remodel isn't where I'm telling a DIY newbie to start, that's for darn sure but of course YMMV.

Yeah mine is the hard PVC (cPVC or some shit? Idk they put a fancy letter somewhere in there to jack up the price 20yrs ago or w/e and its been 3yrs now since I touched it) not the PLEX stuff. It blows my mind those "shark bite" fittings are rated for decades.. seems like something that you'd expect to fail in 5 yrs once the guy who sold it to you had had enough time to go out of business & change names lmao.
