That makes me wonder about the average age of people on here.

A couple of years ago, somebody posted their Overwatch (or maybe it was the script which preceded OW, but I forget the name) watch list and the forum reacted with such hostility that the member deleted the post. Not sure why the person deleted the post -- if I was that person, I would have started posting it daily rather than let some people censor me.

 

It's something that gets debated from time to time, and always has the potential to get out of hand. Everyone has their own personal beliefs on sharing, which ranges from share everything, to share nothing. There are also tons of different motivations for turking, ranging from extremely casual to full-time, can't live without this income. These variables can sometimes come together in a pretty bad way. Overall, I think it is handled really well here though.

 

I think it has less to do with age and more to do with the ongoing controversy of sharing money out of your own pocket, because a lot of us here rely on turking for our primary source of income. I have some requesters I work for that account for a couple hundred dollars a week, but if I shared those requesters with 100+ people any given day, I can expect those couple hundred dollars would diminish to be a couple bucks. That's why you'll see a majority of people posting only surveys, not batches. We can help each other, lead each other to water so to speak, but at a certain point it does become a competitive job and a lot of work is kept in an individual's back pocket. That's also why you'll see people branching off onto side chats/friendships/buddy systems to share with people close to them, but not 100+ people.

Exports also sometimes get fed into external sites, which means you won't only be sharing with the 100+ users here, but also people who aren't active in the community etc.

This is the most convoluted HIT I have ever attempted. I spent over 5 minutes making sure I understood the instructions of how to successfully complete it. There are multiple parts with different logins. The first part can get tedius responding to the simlated text conversations but hanf in there. They do end sooner than you think they will. I did complete and submit it. I hope I did all the steps correctly. I would hate to have spent all that time and have it rejected due to the crazy instructions and steps.
