22 Brian Z's later, I feel my sanity slightly ebbing.

 

For those who don't know, I've been doing work for Pivotal Perspectives Team for a while as their "hit coordinator". They asked me to reach out to the forums to try to get some more respondants to their survey. The requirement is that your "primary work role is writing code" (verbatim from them). I'm not sure if anyone here falls under that umbrella, but if you do we'd appreciate your input.

If you get through the survey (IE don't get screened out), you'll get an email letting you know when the rest of the payment is available. They do it as a separate hit with qualifications and such, so you'll get notified when the secondary hit is available so you can get the payment. The survey has a few exit scenarios, so if you meet the programmer criteria but not one of the others, you can still submit for the $0.25 payment, but please don't take it if you don't meet the initial criteria of being a programmer for work.

Has anyone been in the Talking to the Crowds HITs lately the abuse by some is rampant in there. @ChrisTurk, I sent an email to the requester to join the forum as a Requester since he is trying to qual out the spammers.

The TO is brutal because when we first started doing hits they would reject people who got screened out, but their screening process was very long, so people got pissy. They shoot for $10/hr, usually it's higher. When I did one of their studies (how I got started working with them), it took me about 15-20m and was $5.

 

My history with hits like this, they pay out, and then they send you an email asking if you want higher paid "work" which is usually a scam. Can't vouch for this particular one, but it wouldn't be the first time this was used to recruit people.
