I just found out the sleep study I need is going to cost $1500 after insurance, which I absolutely can't afford. Sigh.

 

What is the point of it? Just to monitor your sleep?

 

Will they let you do a home sleep study? Those are much much cheaper.
I got lucky when I had to have mine but still paid a good bit out of pocket to get it done.
Pretty expensive to just sleep in a bed with wires all of your body for a night while people stare at you...

A friend just did a sleep study at home, picked the equipment up from the hospital and returned it the next day. Not sure if that'll be cheaper out-of-pocket since there's probably a set amount you're paying for that, but worthy checking.

But make sure you ask specifically if a home study is good to test for what you are suspected to have. It's better at testing for certain things.

 

I echo this comment. I had a sleep study done, and based on the pre-test score determined if an at-home study would be good. It was not for me.

 

Ask your insurance company if they prefer to pay the hospital charges when you have sleep apnea issues.

 

The batch peaked at ~120,000 and is now at 95,000 (about four hours later), so they should be on for most of the day.
