I had this experience once, except it was a 30 minute oil change that was closing in on 5 hours. I had an appointment too. They kept saying, "your Honda will be right out!" at regular intervals. Finally, I went to the desk and said I had other things to do, and needed my keys back. They magically had it done 10 minutes later.

 

I had an 8am appointment. Its 11:30 now. I checked in with them at 2 hour mark and they said they couldn't get it to overheat while idle and are going to run some tests. I might check in with them again soon. Somehow it manages to overheat on me every time but not while it's being inspected lol
