These are great points! so first I just wanted to clarify that it's totally OK if there aren't two "best" responses. I know these examples are quite numerous in my HITs and you won't be penalized (in spot checks or whatever) if you pick a random unlikely/gibberish answer as the #2 best if there isn't an obvious #2.

That's a really interesting example with in/on that you mention! To be honest, I didn't really think of this... I would say that if the sentence is understandable, but weird or ridiculous, then it's "unlikely" (e.g. putting your hand in a blender). If there's a minor grammar error (like "Someone place his hand in a blender") where you can easily understand the sentence by fixing the error, even though the corrected sentence is still ridiculous, it should be "unlikely." I suppose in that case, then "someone puts their hand on a blender" would be likely. Again, all of this depends on context, so if it's a situation in which a blender would be weird, then mark unlikely...

I like this suggestion and was going back and forth as to the distinction between "gibberish" and "unlikely" and was experimenting with that in the trial tasks - that said, at the end of the day I need sentences like "a person rides a camel on a horse" to be marked as unlikely, not gibberish (even though it's probably impossible)!
