    You would probably be better off with a cat unless you can take a lunch and go home and let a dog out each day. Talk with the counselors at your local shelter. You can also leave them with a doggy daycare

    our 100 lb german shepherd could go 8-10 hours with no potty break during the day but he usually got a lunch break from my fiance who goes home for lunch anyway. our 30 lb terrier mix usually gets a lunch break too but occasionally goes from 8-3 or so without a break and she is ok too. YMMV but most dogs will be ok with 6-8 hours alone once they are fully grown
