Any idea what kinda credit score gets you good mortgage rates? This is all so arcane to me, I just grabbed one card and put everything on it about a year ago.

yea, my stepmom made sure i understood how to use it properly before going to college. it is the little things like that that are a long-term blessing. i'm glad that you are able to get rid of the debt

 

That is a great thing to teach your kids. My dad got me a debit card when I was like 15 or something and any money I got from gifts or chores or anything went on that to teach me how to use it.

I treat all my credit cards like debit cards now as an adult, and if I can't pay it off in a month I don't buy it (car and house excluded).

used to be 720 iirc. but you could get 1 with a score in the 500's, I think 580 was the minimum. but there were catches, like if you had ever defaulted on a student loan it had to be higher because you couldn't qualify for certain types of loans. veterans have some extra options and single moms have some extra ones. but if you are a regular person I think 580 to get in the door, 720 for best rates in the past.

thats the thing though, the car problems fuck everything up. Its the only thing thats comes up where the problem is expensive AND it needs to be taken care of right away.

 

I actually got pretty lucky and didn't have to buy my first car until I was 27, when the new job I got up proved to be too far for me to bicycle to.

Everyone has different life paths and circumstances, I've gotten lucky and haven't been in a position we're I've had to rely on my credit cards to get me through.

Does anyone have a good article or video to teach my dog the following things. He has regressed to the point of not going into the crate even with the best treats in there and I can't even force him in there since he is too smart and uses his paws to block getting in there. We have been leaving him out during the day even with us gone and only crating while we sleep but he has displayed an even worse behavior. He now has decided that he won't follow the stay command and he ran out the door when we were leaving this morning. Luckily he just ran circles around me in the parking lot(still dangerous but thankfully it was a bank lot so it was completely empty today). I need to teach him some sort of command to come to me even when he's way too excited by stimulus, to go in the crate when he's supposed to, and to stay inside when we open the door.

He's only ever outside on a leash or the lead so he has realized now just how much fun it is to run around off a leash where he isn't supposed to.
