Oh god, I think I have a picture of me wearing a silly bucket hat somewhere when I was a kid too. I used to love that hat. My mom used to dress me and my sisters all in the same outfits, too, because we were so close in age it made clothes shopping easier, I guess.

I said in another post, that I think if you think monthly pay is great, I think you're coming from a completely different place than most people. It's like an argument to make in class on theory when actual practice is completely different. If you have savings, or if you're young and have someone like parents who helped you get started as this monthly pay job began, you'll be in a better place to manage your money. But I'm not speaking in theory, I don't know if you are, but I have worked in a place with monthly paychecks, everyone, higher and lower earners, hated it and complained about it all the time. That's how it is at any other place I have personal experience with that pays monthly as well. It is a major negative when employees mention what's bad about working at X company.

If you have a child, own a home, own a car, have major medical bills, have student loans, etc, it is very hard to live on a monthly check because emergencies come up that you cannot budget for months and months in advance. Assuming you can is assuming something that isn't true for many American families, that they have a ton in savings to deal with emergencies. That they have considerable disposable income in their budgets if only they plan ahead. When your water heater bursts and you have to pay $800 to remove the old one and get the new one in, you couldn't see that coming 6 months ahead of time. When your car breaks down and the mechanic tells you it's $1000 to replace the timing belt, you can't plan 3 months ahead for that. The roof needs to be replaced? Since when? Since those hurricane force winds blew off too many shingles to properly protect your home. $10k for that. It's easy to say, budget ahead for things, but when the thing comes up, it is rarely cheap and not getting a paycheck sooner than later to help with the squeeze is a problem. Because many people could wait on getting something fixed for a week when they get paid next, but few can wait for an entire month. There is a reason people carry credit card debt.

 

Same. Did you and your sisters have designed colors per outfit, not picked out by you. Mine was red.

 

I was blue, middle sister was pink, and oldest was usually yellow/green.

 

They gave me all my sister's clothes, which was of course, HYSTERICAL. Ya know...cause I'm so short and she was of a normal height. I took to wearing leggings and knee length sweaters as a kid.

And bucket hats of course.

this is why we need to be teaching children finances super early. too many haphazardly 'i guess i'll do this' into unneeded debts and expenses. really happy i learned that a child is a quarter million to age 18 and college isn't for everyone before i became trapped in that.

Hilarious and oh so familiar. My sister was blue or purple, and I was pink, yellow, or purple (if the other color was blue). It was less my mom dressing us the same than almost all gifts we received being identical. And we received a ton of gifts because my parents had plenty of friends with no children who spoiled us.

 

I just noticed I wrote "designed" and not "designated" and can't not correct it.

 

So when these pins expire because sophia's servers are crap....she's gonna blame me and lock me out, isn't she?
