Probability:

Person A is pandaing HIT1 every second.
Person B is pandaing HIT1 & HIT2
Person C is pandaing HIT1, HIT2, HIT3, HIT4, HIT5

So lets say HIT1 becomes available.. who is most likely to catch it? The person running the least amount of pandas.

Now in some ways Person C is increases their odds of catching any old random HIT (in theory world) by diversifying their "portfolio" so to speak, but in practical terms because mTurk is so competitive its very unlikely that that holds true since there is almost always many, many people pandaing any given decent paying HIT throughout the day.

Tons of other stuff comes into play, but as far as how many pandas to run at once that's the basic idea.

 

That makes sense. I have left some $10 and higher hits in my panda for a few days once or twice and caught them two or three days after they first post. But I only do that for the higher paying hits I see. I read not to keep more than 10 in your panda, but now see that even 10 is way too many.

IMO (others may disagree here, idk) keeping a survey past the first expiration round is pointless inefficient. Even for a $10 HIT, in most cases I believe you'll catch more by ditching it and moving on to the next then praying to god someone else who was pandaing it, then caught it, is also going to throw it back after.

Usually those multi-day pandas only pay off when the Requester just happens to repost the survey again. Which is slightly more likely w/ TurkPrime but otherwise is pretty meh IMO.

Thanks for the info. I reckon I must have just gotten lucky those couple of times! Ok, if I click on a hit and it say there are no more available and I hit panda...how do I see when it's going to "expire". I looked under details on panda but it doesn't give me that info. I guess I'm not sure how long to keep it in panda then...

 

You guys pointed something I never checked before, the expiration date, how do I check it per hit?

That info could save a lot of useless pandas.
