No I don't eat my cats food, they'd be pissed off. Fortunately i have not had to worry about food for several years and even more so after I quit drinking. When I was homeless though Dollar Tree was the spot for having $3-$5 a day to eat on....box of crackers and a can of sardines,tuna or vienna sausages and a can of whatever they had for a veg or frozen if I was near a Dollar Tree that had coolers.

 

It's hella expensive though

This is a free $4/day cookbook that was written for people who receive SNAP. It has some great ideas in it. Not to repeat what everone keeps saying but dried beans and rice are your friends when your food budget is scarce. Prioritize protein, try to keep things balanced. Cheap protein like people said are tuna, peanut butter, and of course beans. One of my favorite dishes is lentils and potatoes.
