Had a nice flood of surveys for a minute there. Now it is slow for me again but I am at $23 and havent even slept yet.

 

Hey @ChrisTurk - idea about personalized badges. Maybe make them a donator perk? After a single user gets to a certain donation level (like $50 or $100) then they get to work with you to make a personalized badge. Gets you more money and stops the inundation of requests. And it's not sleazy because it changes nothing about the usefulness or functionality of the site.

This is already all they are. Hummingbird got one because I was testing how long it took me and she had already donated a decent amount to the site. The Polar Bears paid for - very literally - MONTHS worth of this website's hosting bills. Also, neither of them asked for ANYTHING. I added the icons because I thought it was cute/funny.

I haven't rolled it out as an official feature because I like to contemplate things before putting them behind a pay wall. But alas, some folks just have to take time out of their day to make sure they piss off other human beings in the world or life just wouldn't be worth living.

Oh ok, cool! I didn't know that's how Birdie got hers. BTW, did I screw up something with my donation? Apparently I didn't give it to you the day I thought I did? Paypal keeps emailing me to let me know it'll be processed soon. Is that on your end? Do you only process the donations in a chunk at the end of the month of lower fees or something? I did I bork something on my end?

Oh, idk, the entire system is automated with the add-on. That PayPal is also designated solely for this website, I don't take any of the funds out for myself. If there is an excess beyond the normal monthly cost of the website the money gets transferred into a savings account that only holds funds from TH to earn interest and be at less risk of PayPal's arbitrary "this money is now ours" policy but I don't touch it for personal use nor do I mix it with my personal or business funds so, truthfully, I don't look at it at all unless I'm purchasing an add-on for the forum, which I don't think I've done in a month or more now lol.

If you got the icon, presumably your thing went through and all is well. There's no delay/batching options w/ the add-on (or PP in general AFAIK since they love their fees) but maybe it was sent as an eCheck instead of PP balance/credit/debit/bank withdrawal, those usually take a few days to go through.

I put this in an edit, but I want to point it out again: Not a single person who currently has a "custom" flair asked for it. None of them. They're all straight from my brain as meager "thanks" for supporting the site and because the icon in question made me chuckle when I came up with the phrase/pic combo.

 

Feel free to send me links in PM if you want but they must be well sourced scientific articles and not some conspiracy theory BS. I want articles that have scientific data to back up the claims made.

Oh wow, I'm an idiot. I just read the email that told me my payment would be processed in a few days, and it says I used the "pay after delivery" option....I don't remember clicking that but I guess I derped something up. Sorry for the delay in you getting your money. I feel like I've fraudulently used my flair for 2 weeks . At least The Polar Bears got you covered so you didn't run short this month!
