So is it normal to spend $200 on pencils and folders etc.... at Walmart? My wife does not understand why I am so mad about it. She bought over 250 pencils for example and there are only like 160 days in the whole school year. Kind of ruined my whole day and she is going to go clothes shopping later too. I might have a heart attack before the day is over

 

I'd say you could return like 240 of those pencils

 

Saddest part is we likely have about 100-200 pencils already in our house. I am really stressed by this madness.

 

I get my kids one of those little 5 pack things and after that they buy them from the school store with their own money, you get them a whole box and they become the pencil king handing them out to all their friends.

I think if its worrying you this much that its worth sitting down with her and explaining why you feel the pencils are an excess, how much it costs vs the need, etc. Try to remain calm and let her know how it makes you feel and be willing to hear her out and try to reach an agreement I'd say. Best thing I can think to recommend is to avoid any accusing words and just try your best to lay out your thoughts about the cost to your guys combined funds vs the need for materials for school and perhaps a budget for that?

I was going to recommend a full on brawl. Unless of course they're Dixon Ticonderoga number 2s. Those are great pencils.

 

I did that. The receipt is about three feet long.I compared it to the list the school gave us and it is insane how overboard she went. She insists they need 30 glue sticks each. I can't win. I already lost.
