you can't choose where you've been, only where you'll go moving forward. we've all been in dark places in varying degrees and varying circumstances, all that matters is how you choose to grow from it and learn what's right for you and your own happiness. never hesitate to reach out to anyone here if you need to, i'm positive anyone would be happy to chat if you need to. like GM said, you're in good company. we have people from all walks of life and you fit right in.

Thanks so much. Feel a lot better now. Originally wrote this because I woke up in a cold sweat feeling extremely panicky and guilty. This is something that is rare now but still happens unfortunately. In the past this is why I would drink and use the anxiety meds I was hooked on. maybe one day I'll go a bit deeper I was living a very wild life for a number of years doing bad things, (at least I have so many crazy stories that are fun to laugh about now). I dont want to be that person anymore, it was an act a front I developed as a teen to protect myself by numbing my emotions and trying to be tough. Alot of this transpired over a number of years and got really bad about 2 years ago when I quit my IRL job because getting loaded was more important. Times are better, not perfect, but keep making strides

 

While not the same, I've been there detoxing from alcohol several times. Good on you for stopping, good luck with your scans, and you'll always have a home here.

 

Hang in there man, I know it's hard but stay strong and one day you will get back at that bastard Christian Slater for ruining your enterprise

 

Hey man I've been in low places myself. It sounds like you're doing what's good for you now. Keep that shit up. Refocus all your energy into learning new things and you'll surprise yourself how far you'll come. I see you dropping scripts from time to time, I know you got it in you.

 

I'll never forget waking up on the floor of a detox having other users staring at you some scared, some just looking at you like you're a fool. Strange how I remember that but other events are so foggy. I'm so glad it happened in hind sight

I went to SARP which is the military's AA basically volunteered myself. I did not get clean then, it took several years after. I did it almost completely alone till the very end when my girlfriend saved me. My biggest issue was always thinking that I had to do it all by myself

lmao I was definitely living a Drexl lifestyle back in those days. So glad I was able to drop that group of "friends"

 

Yeah man, sometimes you gotta drop certain aspects of your life that only contribute in a negative way, one of my friends right now is stuck on heroin and he goes and gets methadone every day but still smokes crack and various other drugs, holy shit.

 

Awesome, yes I'm the same exact way with wanting to do things by myself. Only child dad split its just kinda embedded in me.

 

I can see that, almost having to raise yourself I figure.

I was a 100% latchkey kid, growing up overseas I didn't have very many friends outside of school and was left to my own devices. Made me very independent, yet to a fault

I've learned to let some peeps in eventually

I did not live here before I got out of military haha, but I am enjoying my stay

 

Nice, certain parts are cool. Lived in Glendale most my life. Moved out to the east valley where its much quieter and less busy, lots of snowbirds
