Hey no s***, I bought my first house in Mesa cuz that's all I could afford

I'm up in the crack of Glendale and Peoria right now in white Suburbia Heaven / hell

 

Have an irrational fear of traveling long distances, always told myself if I ever left AZ I'm not coming back

 

suburban hell explains Peoria so well lol. I grew up in the skateboarding scene in that area. Glendale park, peoria high, so many good spots

 

Dude that's pretty funny, I'm wondering if you lived right where I live. I think I know that skatepark, Foothills?

 

Yup we ran that place haha. It was such an amazing time. Knowing like 40 different kids names and always having someone to chill with. I lived on 47th ave and olive but we would take the bus

 

Haha, that's nuts. Yeah kids still use it even in the summer, I ride my bike up and down the creek all the time.

Nice I recently bought a mountain bike so I can start riding the canal trail. You know the trail lol it runs through the whole city. Kinda nuts how you can ride a bike from mesa to west phx just on the trail alone

 

Dude no s***, I just bought a mountain bike and that's what I've been riding. I've been running it up and down the creek and going through the middle to gain confidence before I hit an actual Mountain

Yeah I used to ride that Canal when I lived in Mesa as well for a little exercise, I never did ride the whole thing though.

 

There's something majestic about it. Especially in your area where it gets real green in the canal. That was our highway as kids. Bikes skateboards and wed go anywhere. Bus was like 60 cents for all day pass. Lived like kings, I miss that feeling of freedom so much

 

I didn't think there were any people born after about 1980 who had the privilege of having free, independent childhoods. If I'd been raised the way kids are today, I woulda wound-up even more screwed-up than I am.

 

Do I stay or do I go?

 

I think about this as well, Im so glad I got to live at least a chunk of my life with no cell phone 56k aol and no social media....I still live this way

 

Some people are lucky enough to have parents smart enough to not let whatever they see on the id channel influence how they raise their kids. Not me, though, I just stayed inside reading books.
