Meh. When I go formal, I take those little vacuum packed flats that flatten down or I just wear shoes I can toddle around in without issue. But, that's just me. It's sweet you carry her shoes, I just wouldn't ask someone to do that personally.

 

I can't really do boots when I'm climbing. I need something flexible and light. On a hike I kinda like a boot, usually they are water proof too or more water resistant than my climbing shoes. Wet socks are a big no-no to me. Plus, if you are hiking on terrain with no paths, it gives better ankle support for when you're dumb and lose your step because why look where you're going?

See, waterproof blows up in my face a lot on long hikes because even waterproof shit gets wet eventually. I do have sealskinz tho! I love me some waterproof socks. I have little teeny shoes that are for water crossings, and then I just put my trail shoes back on. They have gotten legit wet on a few occasions (and they do make a goretex version of these ones) but those suckers dry super fast and it's never been an uncomfortable issue. I just plan accordingly for whatever hike. I also always always always have backup socks. I actually sprained my ankle in hiking boots ( as did Matt once before) and I fucking hate them. I never have this issue in my altras. It's really a 100% personal choice. Everyone has a different style of hiking and there is a reason so many options exist lol.

I was just joking about "us real men". I just don't mind doing stuff like that. Most guys will do anything for the woman they love. I have carried shoes for my wife before but I did not care or think anything of it. Glad you are prepared for anything with your large purses. I personally do not care one way or the other. Different strokes for different folks.

Those shoes are specifically for hiking or trail running (they are Altra Lone Peaks, which I looooove) but they make cross trainers too I believe.
