You definitely need to learn the basics first but somethings just aren't worth it in my experience. Being in the IT field for a while I can say that comptia are kinda like the GED equivalent of an IT certification. Nothing wrong with it but don't expect it to get you a outstanding job in most places.

Users using a standard mouse aren't going to be cognizant of another click.

For the same reason serious computer users spend most their time in a CLI, many and/or snobbish very opioniated turkers seldom take their hands off their keyboard to touch a mouse, and then it's usually to give their cat something to play with.

Dropdowns are better and also nicer for users who are scripting.

 

Another vote for radio buttons.

 

I sort of agree with this guy.

I'm the opposite of a 'serious turker' and the extra second that is added in using the drop down menu with my mouse wouldn't be noticeable to me, so either one works.

But you're forgetting a huge market of middle ground between keyboard and mouse use... laptop trackpads. It's technically "on" (~an inch from) the keyboard, and radios are much friendlier with them imo. But it's honestly just a personal preference thing. Considering the difference gave me flashbacks to the SAMS survey which was all dropboxes. Ugh. Talk about tedious.

As someone who grew up on a CLI (I had my FOSS software phase in middle/high school ), I tend to use the keyboard more than most for things. I do use the mouse in most radio button settings, though. I consider it faster. But I usually have my fingers on tab and spacebar ready to go to page completions.

Tabbing through text fields, and tabbing to "next" where possible just feels nice.

Same here but I also had a 1st husband who smoked so I had 9 more years of it. I can't even go into any house now that is smokey because it makes me sick. Is it the same for you?
