The funniest part of that whole trip was that there is this girl I went to college with who has always been way more outdoorsy and adventurous and I've always been a little jealous of her cool trips with her dog. Her life just always seemed more exciting and I felt like a prissy Grinch in comparison. I posted pics from my trip on facebook and lo and behold, cool girl from college had been at Joshua Tree a couple days before I had. It was a real ding ding ding! moment for me, to realize I was capable of Grinchin' outdoorsy travels. Matt can hardly keep me off trails now.

Vegas has a ton of cool trails and canyons nearby as well! I have to go back for a hiking specific trip, since last time I was just blousy on champagne and blackjack.

Which I now know are California Quail, and I still squeal every time I see them cause they wobble and are so adorable! Matt saw me sprint off in the Mojave once without warning, and realized I was chasing after quail.

Also, road runners are basically suicidal! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?! Trying to see road runners on purpose = not a one. Trying to drive to the store via the desert road = road runners just suiciding in front of the jeep without looking.
