Oh hey PC users how in the holy moses do I change that damn default music? Started playing with it to get used to it but I want to smash all living things when that song plays

lol I actually have my dad running his own plex server. .. although my parents are only ~10 years older then you. (My mom is clueless about tech though)

I suppose if you need something dead simple for DVR a tivo would work

It is in the settings though you can change it to any audio file for any of the sounds.

But HDMI is easier to deal with then component? I suppose the old TV prob doesn't have it though.

On a side note.. I actually have a lifetime sub for both Plex AND Emby..... so I have switched between the two a few times.. Emby is open source and stuff so it is neat and the devs seem to give more of a shit but it is not as mature of a product yet.

I just thought VCR's were extinct other than my grandparents house

They aren't exactly cheap... You could also get a component to HDMI converter instead for cheap

There is nothing better about DVDs and VHS... they are all kind of garbage compared to modern stuff... DVDs even more so with how compressed a lot of them are to be able to fit onto a DVD. Vinyl on the other hand actually is at least comparable to CD quality with a bit warmer of a sound sometimes.

Make sure it actually supports what you want to do though.. It sounds like there is some weirdness with the audio only going one direction with this.. I think it said HDMI --> Component worked.. or perhaps the other way around.. but something along the lines of this is what you prob want.. (Just make sure it will actually work first)
