I watch a academic study on mturk earnings the other day. The researcher said the biggest loss of earnings is actually returned work, instead of rejections or lower paid work.

Makes sense. I return stuff constantly because the pay and/or work is terrible.

Yeah, just looking at HitTracker and seeing what I've returned has shown me how much money I lose out on in a day.

 

Time is always relevant too. Just cause I can make more money technically if I didn't return something with a bad hourly, doesn't make it the best use of my time.

He did take that into account. It still is a net loss, unless you didn't do any work on it. If you started working on it you lose productivity and time spent searching for work.

 

Some of it is probably stuff you're not qualified for or have already done, though

 

And some of it is just plain garbage.
