    my 2010 macbook pro died in june and i thought the same thing. i ended up buying a refurbished 2017 macbook air from apple, same warranty/guarantee but cheaper and i'm really happy with it

    The new ones are even worse as a far as repairs go. I would say that the 2013 and before era used to be easy enough to repair though.
