no worries! I really appreciate feedback sorry I've been slow to respond to things, I'm at an academic retreat right now and internet is really slow.

I've fixed the feedback submission so that you'll get around 3 or so, max totally understand that it can be intimidating.

I totally understand with concerns about ROI. My task isn't for everyone, but there are many workers who have been doing fantastic work, as well as many who have been doing 'okay.' I've been providing feedback as there is some amount of subjectivity as to what I'm looking for, so I want to make my biases known.

as far as interesting photos: these should be better now I can't say that all of the images in these batches are interesting, but I trained a model to identify interesting images (based on everyone's ratings) and it allowed me to cut the "boring" rate of these images by a factor of 3. This model picks up on a lot of things, like motion blur, and number of objects in the scene, more or less implicitly. after around 15k more HITs I'm going to switch to re-annotating interesting images that people flagged as such with more questions

Requesting a qual doesn't do anything, it just goes into a giant list that the req never actually sees haha. Gotta message them.

That isn't always true. There are several requesters that grant quals 24hrs later or some bullshit after requesting it.

 

Qual batches get posted here a good bit. Try for those. Also, some have the "take qual test" on the hit information. That is hit or miss, but often worth a shot.

 

Haha, depends on the qual. Some are legit closed, some can only be gotten by doing the screener/qual test, but yeah generally communication is an underrated part of MTurk because no one does it.
