    My kids are in school for Columbus Day. I think it's up to the schools if they take it off, but the banks and federal buildings are closed. :dunno:

    Also, I think schools give more breaks throughout the year, but they've shortened summer break by ~1 month. Mine are out in June and back in August.

    My useless story for the day...my ex-husband used to work for the government doing something with gas pipes or lines. I'm not sure what he did. But after he posted some stuff on Facebook and made some comments, three days later, they came and took the keys to his government vehicle and said he was no longer an employee. He posts so much crap though, he's forever banned from FB now.
