"Who will you vote for in the upcoming election?"

No one told GeorgetownMSBResearch that the election was a month ago. I bet they were to busy making 25 cent surveys.

Times are rough for universities, today my Uni sent out a posting for native speakers of a foreign language for $11 for 2 hours. In real life, physical presence required. I laughed out loud when I saw the email. Shit, even with mediocre surveys mTurk are better, especially considering there is 0 chance of a native speaker without a B.A. here.

Today you're university's teaching students that there's no good reason to go into academics. A valuable lesson tbh.

How in the world do you spend $80k in getting a Assoicates degree? That is a special talent worthy of a spot on your resume imo

What? No, they are just under funded bachelor research programs. The masters programs here are decently funded. PhDs are fully funded. Linguistics will be massively important in the next 10 years. The problem with liberal arts, at least in the USA, is that there is no regulation and they admit WAY too many people and promote academic laziness, where they should be making clear that your only avenue to a good job is top quality research and writing.

You seen what private schools are charging for tuition + room/board these days? (But yes, the figure and the degree was plucked out of my ass.)

I'm down by JBLM and it is COLD here to me!!! I've been running zone heaters for about 6 weeks. Got my first power bill using them for the season and it was only $60.50. I think I'll enjoy my "zone heating" and forgo the shivering ...

Okay, finished it. I think it would have taken me like 20 minutes if I wasn't extremely distracted the entire time.

Or you could go to a community college and get it for basically free + housing cost.

It's a reasonable number if you're going to Penn State at least. Maybe slightly on the high side of the all things included package.

How much do Interpretive Dancers make a year?

    https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081013082242AAHDEN7

"I pay $23 an hour. No benefits. Well, some fringe benefits.

Send me your resume and youtube audition."

Not bad. The post is from 8 years ago so he has to be paying more now unless the economy is hitting interpretive dance hard.

Before I got into mturk I was focused on the research study grind. The pay hierarchy went like this: startup post on craigslist > pre-screened via research firm db email > recruiter post on cl > university depts > mturk

..so the startups posting on craigslist would nearly always pay at least 80-100/h. Then you have the prescreeners from companies like Fleishman field research so they take their (small) cut. When you get all the way down to the uni level it starts droppingto $10-30/h (which is why they're infactuated with using mturk/pa to pay participants as little as possible)

Not everyone can get scholarships, but everyone can go to community colleges on the cheap. :)
