That's one of the reasons why I don't talk to my neices mom. She wont stop if you mention anything political at all. She has personally ruined 3 holidays by starting large fights. Tact and learning to read people in situations is a dying art.

Oh lawdy, girl, same. I'll delete this comment soon enough for privacy, but: my dad's dad committed suicide when my dad was a teenager, and you won't believe (well, actually, you would believe since you just said the same thing) the things people thought about and said to my dad (thereby me too) based on his dad's suicide and he life he lived which drove him to that point. I have zero family because of it. The rest of my dad's family shunned him (again, thereby me), and my mom ditched out on us immediately after I was born and I've never met her half of my family and I've been told his suicide/life contributed to it. The things I dug up after my dad died... yikes. So I'm basically an island and keep to myself in life and try to sprinkle love anywhere I can because I've seen grim and been through some shit, so why not be a force of good to counteract it.

Also, sorry, I'm selfish and made this all about me: I'm sorry you went through those things and those people near to you suffered that badly, life can be such shit sometimes.
