Spoiler: More fam stuff

We're just setting up palliative care stuff (radiation, not chemo) because it's definitely not something he could come back from, but we want the best quality of life possible. It's definitely gonna be rough. I've spent a ton of time in hospitals, both as a patient and working there during my internship, so I can handle wading thru all the medical care planning without too much confusion. Medical care and whatnot is one of the few things that is solidly in my wheelhouse and it comes in handy for stuff like this. I'm talking to a couple care places here that do both home care and in home hospice, so we should just be able to transition care as needed. He's already at the less than 6 months point sadly, but he seems stable enough to have a couple ok-ish months at the very least before it gets much worse.

It's gonna be rough either way, but that's what just you do as far as i'm concerned. My dad and his dad hated one another, but he still took in my pop pop when the other 4 kids didn't want to and it was much better than just sticking him in a nursing home. His last couple years living with us were definitely better than the alternative, even if he and my dad were still not too fond of each other, and it really stuck with me as a kid that I would do the same if that time came. Matt's dad adores him tho and was a much more active parent than either of mine were, so I'll bend over backwards to make sure things go as smoothly as they can here. I'm a bigtime crier, and I'm trying to be as calm as possible with everyone, even if I'm running to weep in private as soon as I can, because it's just ultimately not about me- matt's about to have the most painful loss of his life and I can't stop that and his dad is coping with the fact he's definitely dying. It's just sucky all around.

Oh wow, you have got a heart of gold! And an excellent attitude. It really sounds like you have thought of everything. Matt sure is lucky to have you! It is going to be very hard in so many ways.
