i'm sure they're very tasty if prepared properly, but when i googled it, the recipe published in the NYT called for the beans to be cooked for about an hour

That cast is crazy.

 

Is that too long? I'm Texan, so proper food takes like 8 hours to cook. It's basically an day thing with us. You could try Rick Bayless' cowboy beans. They take 3-4 hours.

Everyone knows you have to start the fire with sparks from bullet ricochets.

You can make them with canned beans pretty quick, but with dry pinto beans you need to take your time. Those fucking things always take forever.
